The word Elite means nothing in actuality when it comes to this game since it can vary by meaning from person to person. I wouldn't consider anyone who got through it elite.. just lucky.

When you enter the area, it does say "Elite Mission" right under the name of the area.

I think, it's hinting that maybe this is designed for people who might want to give it a challenge for "elite" difficulty?

From a devoted PvE Guilds perspective, this place is a gold mine. The challenge of perfecting your team build is immense, and the reward will be pretty much exclusive to you cos every joe schmoe either hasnt got the patience or time for it.

IMO, there probably wont be a set build to defeat this. It'll probably be up to player skill, and thats something that most players are never gonna have if the only way they can get their unique items is from trying to nerf all the hard bits.

Wish my guild was more active
Wish I was in a guild, let alone a PvE oriented one =/.

I would say that having one area for "elite" players isn't a big deal - we (non-elite, heck I'm almost never in UW or FoW either) have everything else.

If it stays then there are missions and explorables for every possible skill level. That's generally a good thing.

Really, I'm more irritated at how much skill in working builds it took to beat Shiro (with a good build I never dropped below 1/4 health - though several of the paragon skills I used was really hit hard with the nerf bat, I would have to see if it is still that easy or not). That's a normal area and the vast majority of casual and especially new players are going to get rocked.

So, now whenever someone complains that Shiro needs nerfed and the "elite" players fuss that PvE is too easy, keep something hard - well there is their place.

That and make Razah either a variable profession or make him easier to get. Plus once the cookie cutter builds start coming out then it will not be so "elite" anymore.

Edit: Also, I got a margonite gemstone as a drop from a margonite in the city and sold that extra gemstone to some lazy player for 50k. So I gain the satisfation of completing one of the game's most elite areas and making some extra cash off another player's lazyness. gg
Maybe you like dieing 100's times and spending hours upon hours trying to find a build that will let you kill 1 more mob than last time. Maybe thats fun and a challenge for you, if so then good for you. For me and most other people its NOT. I like a challenge but dieing before you can even kill the 1st mob let along the 1st group is not a challenge its just STUPID.

And because someone does'nt have the time to waste to find the build that does work. But does have the money thier lazy. Maybe they have a life and don't have all day to waste on playing GW. Myabe thier have the time but would rather do something more intresting or fun. Its not hard to make money in GW. Maybe they did'nt want to waste all thier time trying to do something as pointless as this area and would rather spend thier money instead.

Btw how many hours did it take you to get that gem?

You do realise that these areas ARE NOT the elite mission. Thier just exploreable areas you have to get though to get there. And as far as i know NO ONE has actually GOT to the mission yet. The mission will no doubt be EVEN harder. You better hope thier is a town or outpost to get to where you can just goto for the mission. As VERY few people will want have to go though those areas each time they want to do the mission.

And another thing I don't know about you but the one of the main reasons to play the chapters or ares more than once IS for the drops. So far NF drops with the exception of one chest drop have been in a word CRAP when compared to drops in the other chapters.

I loved the increased Difficulty in Nightfall, specially in the Torment Zones.

You guys need to calm your Ego's down, you cant expect to get in there and beat everything and be the King of the universe.

Play for fun, play for the challenge.

Player's will find way's.

Here you can't.

Instead of giving normal creatures the powers of a boss, why not gving the alternate/partially random builds?
That would be a challenge, and fun, and not a frustating time consuming job.
in other grinder RPGs (read: Everquest and WoW),
Raids spend *months* of glasschewing defeat until they beat the hard areas of new content

groups will have finished DOA before 2 weeks

I like this new elite mission, but, please please please please Anet, do not make it easier, because you always listen to the majority of people, but if you make it easier to get, it'll be less fun if you actually succeed in it, for example: I always wanted to get a Champion title for GvG, winning in a Guild vs Guild with both Guilds having a rating of 1500 or higher was a real challange for me, and it would be wortwhile of getting it, but now it's only 1200 rating or higher, and now everyone has it... it's not fun having one anymore.

We got owned. Got into a few deeper places, got owned. 2.5 hours is enough for me. I won't be back there until you guys with no life spend the next week figuring out the right builds. Personally, I have better things to do.

I don't really understand what the problem is with building another SF type expansion. Put in some good drops. Don't make it overly difficult (example: no more "everytime you block, dodge, or evade you take 50 damage" -- that is f'n BS if you are a ranger), everyone enjoys the heck out of it for five or six months, then we move on.

To this day I don't know of a single person that enjoys the Deep or Urzog's Warren. No one looks forward to going there. The drops are crummy, the maps are stupid and long. You have to have exactly the right mix of players to come close. And you can successfully spend one hour, die at the end and get nothing. While I am sure there are a few fools out there that enjoy that sort of thing, I don't know of any.

Sorrow's Furnace on the other hand was fun. Our guild still farms there. It is productive. You get stuff. You go to bed happy. It what a freaking GAME is supposed to be.

No more Anguish for me. It's another Deep mission. It's a waste.
I like playing the Deep or Urgoz, I don't care about getting uber rare drops, sure its nice, but I dont care if I don't, what I do care about is seeing 50 million numbers of damage when playing fire ele for example, that's fun, and it's a game afterall, it's supposed to be fun.

Yes, but the whole Domain of Anguish area was very clearly announced by ANet as an "elite" area. Look up the announcements.

Please don't.

The Domain of Anguish isn't meant for "the majority of people". It's called "elite" for a reason! The majority of people aren't "elite". It was meant as a challenge for the top/veteran/elite players who beat every other part of the game with ease, not as a cash machine for the average player for easy solo farming (like the Underworld).

Question - Where in the city is Jadoth? Do you have to complete the quest you recieve from the NPC at the start of the explorable area?

We came close tonight, using a 5 man build. But lacked the damage to take out the last 3 mobs.

We'd cleared all the outside and 90% of the inside of the city, was just curious if Jadoth spawns are you complete clearing the city?

Loving DoA, very hard, finally a challenge in PvE

Yes, they're all still whining about the quests in the explorable area. They haven't even got to the mission yet

I agree completely. Our run fizzled at Jadoth because of error'ed people Any area with this much time consumption and thus so much leaning on people not getting disconnected really does need the feature.

After clearing everything, another Margonite Anur patrol spawns at the gate of the city, and the eastern gate outside the city opens. There are three bosses (BL Monk, Jadoth, and another Paragon I think) each with their own giant Margonite Anur patrol.

I entered the Domain of Anguish a short while after it came out, and got flattened. Utterly destroyed. I found it (and still do) ridiculous that the mobs can hit for well over 400 damage with a single spell.

However, I am not here to complain. You see, I didn't give up. I found PuGs. I tried builds. Four and a half hours (we had a few...mishaps) after going into the city section with one PuG, we had cleared everything but the final boss mobs, at which point my computer crashed, bloody thing. However, the remaining members cleared the mobs and finished one of those "incredibly hard" zones. Now, I don't want to sound like I am bashing anyone, but this wasn't what I would call an elite group of superb PvE'ers (including myself; I have not done any "serious" PvE in a long time). Yet we got through, because people LISTENED when the leader said to stay away from the tank when it came time to aggro.

I would guess that a large portion of the people who try these zones fail because they try to bring nukers (not bad in and of itself) and a tank, but then have no aggro control. All the AoE in the world doesn't matter one whit if the mobs are all over the map, yet nobody seems to realise that means you should let the tank aggro. This is partly the tanks fault, as often he/she seem to refuse to run in without all the monks 3 feet behind him. But since all the game content before this doesn't demand any sort of expert aggro control, most pugs are clueless about it.

I am getting at what some people have already said in this thread. The zones are not only completable, but a balanced group of people who listen can complete them. Surprisingly, this means you actually need to have some vague knowledge on how to play the game to succeed...for the moment anyway.

Of course, that means you also need to find 7 other people with some knowledge, and that is no easy feat with pugs, even less so right now while the area is populated by a slew of bad players as well as good.
